Join us on April 4th for a fireside chat with the author, James B. Lockhart, and Steve Scully, Sr. VP of Communications at BPC, as they discuss ways to lessen this “huge fiscal burden,” better manage the government, and better serve the American people.
The finances of the U.S. Government are underwater, with Social Security on an unsustainable path, and two of the nation’s largest financial institutions, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, into their second decade of conservatorships.
Drawing on his long career in government and the private sector, author James B. Lockhart examines these financial challenges in “America: Underwater and Sinking, Time to Surface with Lessons Learned.”
Lockhart is a former submarine officer with the U.S. Navy, served in both Bush administrations, was Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, and went on to play a key role in the government’s response to the Global Financial Crisis as a member of the TARP Oversight Board. He is also a senior fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center.
